How Long Should Cetaphil Cleanser And Benzoyl Peroxide Be Used?

Question: As suggested by Dr. Asmeet XXXXXXX Sawhney , Tue, 19 Apr 2016 I have started using Cetaphil cleanser and benzoyl peroxide 2.5 % gel. I wanted to check how long should i use it and will it permanently fix my long existing acne and whiteheads problem.

Did you notice any improvement in your acne problem after starting the treatment.
Did you take the oral medication?

Thank you for your response doctor.
I have started using only gel no oral medication. After applying gel I am feeling itchiness also condition has become worse i think I am getting more big red pimples.
Please suggest. I have attached photos of latest stage.

Need oral medication as well, can stop benzoyl peroxide gel
Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and you are having moderate acne.
For this you need to take oral medication as well.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take capsule doxycycline 100 mg once daily at bedtime.
If you are having itching due to benzoyl peroxide you can stop using it.
Instead apply clindamycin gel in the morning and adapelene clindamycin combination gel at night.
This needs to be continued for atleast 4-6 weeks under supervision of the doctor.
