How Long Should Tazloc Be Taken To Control High BP?

default
Posted on Sat, 2 May 2015
Question: Dear Doctor,
I am 32 year old.
Weight 87kg, Height 5ft 5inch.I am G6PD deficient. I had cold and cough and sorethroat since last 2 weeks.I went to doctor and he gave me Azithral si tablet and his medicine later on when the cough still persisted he gave me Warclav 625 twice a day and his medicine. I am still taking the same and today is my 5th day.Now i am feeling quite better.
Now my main concern is that one day my dad monitored his BP and it was high as he is taking medicines. So even i just checked it up and it was 148-90-98. So i got a bit worried as well. I never had BP in past when i used to monitor it.
Next day i went to My doctor and when he checked it was 141-100. So he told it is high and he gave me Tazloc 40. I dint take medicine for 3 days thinking it that it can be my anxiety and psychology for rise in BP. Even i dint want to get dependent on medicine. So i thought i would exercise and control salt intake and it would be fine.
But the thing was always playing on my mind.So after 3 days when i checked in evening i was shocked to see 168-105-110 and i paniced and took Tazloc 40.
After some time i went to doctor and told him to check and it was 160-90. He told me to take medicine every day before breakfast. That night it was
151-81-90
140-75-84- 7th April night
142-89-97

141-91-108 8th April morning before medicine
138-85-101 after medicine

137-89-110 evening 7.30
138-79-95

149-77-91 night
137-78-90
134-87-93
134-89-84

123-80-99 Today morning
127-81-97
123-79-82
125-80-87
So my worry is that am i taking correct medicine and how long should i take it. Further if my pressure is almost normal as seen today morning, will it drop below that and cause low bp if i continue medicine. My family says it will not drop below normal limit and it will prevent it from being high and if i stop than it will again be high.
So i am totally confused and worried about it. Further i am also worried about my pulse rate being high. I guess its due to my anxiety and nervousness every time i monitor my pressure.
Pls revert me what i should do and how do i manage it
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Continue taking Tazloc

Detailed Answer:
HI XXXXXX

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

Well your blood pressure is under control because of the medicine ( Tazloc ) so you need to continue taking medicine ( your family is right )

But don't worry about your pressure going low as Tazloc is a very mild anti hypertensive medicine and very unlikely to cause low blood pressure . So relax and continue taking medicine.

Along with the medicine continue taking low salt diet and continue doing exercise . Once your Blood pressure comes to less than 120/80 then consult your doctor again , he shall reduce the dose to 20mg .

Monitor your Blood pressure more frequently once the dose is reduced to 20mg and increase your exercise intensity or duration or both.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.

Dear Doctor,
Thankyou for your response.
Whenever i monitor my pressure at home on machine its between 135-141 and 84-89 but whenever i check with doctor it comes high. Is it because i am very nervous and its because of anxiety.
Also my pulse is between 95-100 or sometimes a bit above it.
Pls let me know is it a thing to worry so much.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
That's normal.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for the follow up.

That's normal . It's called White Coat Hypertension ( though doctor's ma not wear white coat these days :) )

Your home reading is more significant as you will be more relaxed but make sure your machine is calibrated properly as some digital Blood pressure recording machine may show 5-15 mm hg variation from actual readings.

Do one thing get your pressure checked in both digital and the conventional machine same time and see if there is any difference.

Your heart rate is fine , there is nothing to be worried for that.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Tazloc is pretty much safe.

Detailed Answer:
HI XXXXX

See every medicine comes with the risk of side effects . Even a simple paracetamol has side effects but that doesn't mean we should not take medicine. The chances of side effects are extremely less and the benefits given by the medicine are more .

Tazloc also comes with certain side effects like Diarrhea, Indigestion, Weakness, Reduction in platelet count, Increase in blood potassium levels, Angioedema ( allergic swelling of lips )

But all said I have used this medicine in many of my patients and found to be safe . So kindly go ahead and continue taking Tazloc.

I advise you take this every morning after tea/coffee.

Hope this was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask .
