Question: Three year old was just given 4th dose of Dtap mistakenly. How long should we wait to vaccinate with prenar 13? Time between 3rd/4th dose of Dtap was 30 days.

Prevnar 13 can be given irrespective of dose of Dtap

Hi,

Prevnar 13 is pneumococcal conjugate vaccine and it can be given along with Dtap or at any interval. So the effect of Prevnar vaccine does not get effected by Dtap.

The nurse is now saying that the 4th dose of Dtap has to be %E2%80%98redone%E2%80%99 because it was spaced 3 months from the 3rd dose. Apparently, it needs to be given 6 months apart.

Is this true?

is this correct? she mentioned that it needed to be six months apart.

my daughter is special needs which is why i am concerned.

I agree with your nurse as a gap of 6 months is needed between 3rd and 4th dose. If given earlier it should be repeated at 6 months interval from the scheduled 3rd dose for proper efficacy.
