How Long Travel Immunizations Last?

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Aug 2016
Question: my GP surgery has messed up the record of my travel vaccinations. I am sure I have had typhoid and Hep A in the last 2 months; they can't find a record of it. Is is possible to have the vaccination again or would that be dangerous? I am travelling on Monday and the GP Surgery is now closed for the weekend.

Brief Answer:
perhaps you can find out

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

first of all, you should try to find out for example by asking your pharmacist (if you got any vaccine and what type). If they'd done and charged you for vaccination in the surgery, then I'm sure there should have been some record of it. If you can't find what happened then you should do the vaccines as recommended. The adult HAV vaccine requires two doses 6 months apart and the typhoid vaccine (the injectable) is done only once every 2-3 years. Keep in mind that the typhoid vaccine does not confer a high level of protection, so watching what you drink and eat is essential.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
