How Long Will I Bleed After Having Medical Abortion?
Question: Hi,
I went under MTP on last Wednesday 8th July 2015, and was fine the next day as well, I was discharged and was given antibiotics for 4 days and meftal tablets with rabicip.
Onthe 3rd day that is 10th July i stated bleeding and after 2 days i went back to doctor she gave me Methylergometrine tablet for 3 more days, taking these tablets sinse 13th July 2015 night. Still I am bleeding. Is this normal? How long will I bleed. It is scaring me.

Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your anxiety related to the issue but it is common to have bleeding for 7-10 days after abortion but the bleeding should not the more than 1-2 pads per day after 3 days of methyergometrine intake.
So wait for another 3-5 days for the bleeding to stop and in case you still bleed then get a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out retained products of conception.
Keep taking methylergometrine as advised and can add tablet tranexemic acid thrice a day for 3 days which will further reduce the bleeding.

When I went on 13th July 2015, The doctor did PV and said everything is clean and gave that tablet.
Clots are going but not continuously, it will be fine but whenever I stand up and go for urination the bleeding get heavy. but yes I am using 2 to 3 pads for a day now.
