How Long Would The Life Expectancy Be For An Elderly Person With Primary Prostate Cancer While With A Permanent Catheter?
Question: How long would my 94 yr old father with primary prostate cancer, metastasis to bones, supposedly from skull to tailbone, would you estimate he has to live? The “hospitalist” at a less than center of excellence told him did he want chemo or radiation.....of course not knowing other options Dad said no. He was sent home on Hospice (which Dr has interest in). Dads urologist says there are things such as hormone therapy for him and was quite upset that Hospice already there. Although 94, only problem is prostate, hence permanent catheter. No diabetes, no heart disease, etc. Many family members from out of state. I guess I’d just like to know to best of your ability time frame. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Difficult to predict survival period precisely
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that 94 years old father is reported to have advanced cancer of Prostate with distant metastasis (in bones)
It is practically impossible to predict his survival time precisely .However if do not opt for radiation or chemotherapy he is not expected to survive for more than a tear or two .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

My siblings who know nothing about healthcare have ALREADY put him on Hospice thinking he will survive a month or two. I realize you have very little information and predictability is difficult, but would hormone therapy be of value to him?
I know that many unexpected events could cause his demise but wouldn’t it be worth investigating options? His he has no high blood pressure diabetes, any of the usual things a man his age would have.
Thank you XXXX
