How Many Hours Of Sleep Is Necessary For A One Month Old?
Question: My niece is one month old. How many hours is she supposed to sleep in a day? We notice her sleep less than 12 hours. Every time before she has to pee or shit, she cries inconsolably and then it's difficult to put her back to sleep. She also doesn't drink milk to her fill so she keeps waking up hungry. What do we do?
Brief Answer:
Feed every 2 hours
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
There are no fixed timings or hours for infants to sleep. They can sleep anywhere between 8 to 18 hours.
It us normal for them to cry when hungry or defecation. Nothing to worry about it.
Their stomach capacity is small. Hence you will have to feed her once in two hours. This holds good even at night. Again they will be hungry in 2 hours. Hence it is important for them to be fed once every 2 hours.
Feed her when ever she cries. Fees her once in 2 hours even if she does not cry.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards
