Question: How much dosage of fevago 250 and meftal p should be given to child 8 years and weighs 23kg..
Brief Answer:
Details below
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Fevago contains paracetamol and the dose is 10 mg/kg/dose 6-8 hourly. So for 23 kg fevago ds(250 mg/5 ml) the dose would be 5 ml/dose.
Meftal P contains mefenemic acid 100 mg/5 ml. The dose would be 7.5 ml per dose (150 mg) based on 6-7 mg/kg/dose 8 to 12 hourly.
Initially paracetamol should be given and if fever persists even after giving paracetamol, meftal p should be given.
Thanks

Hello sir thankyou for your response....
1)can i give once in 6 hours 4×5ml =20ml..already I had given 6ml during bedtime is it ok..
2)whether ibugesic syrup or meftal p which is safe if we want to alternate due to early occurrence of fever again..(if we are not able to wait for 6 hours to give paracetamol again)
3)ibugesic syrup is best means how much ml I have to give for 23kg
4) for cold i had given 5ml cetrizine at night..whether any other medicine can be given..
5) how long can I wait and see whether the fever subsides before going to doctor directly..
Due to current situation of pandemic little tensed mom if child gets fever sorry for so many questions..

Hi
1) Yes you can give 5 ml of fevago 6 hourly that is 220 ml/day.
2) If fever recurs earlier than 6 hours you can give 5 ml of fevago 4 hourly that is 30 ml/day. 60 mg/kg/day is the maximum dose of paracetamol that can be given in a single day. For 23 kg it would be around 1500 mg or 30 ml/day.
3) If fever persists or recurs earlier ibuprofen(ibugesic) is the second line of treatment. Dose of ibugesic is 10 mg/kg/dose 3-4 times a day.
4) Cetrizine is good for cold and dose of 5 ml twice a day is appropriate for him.
5)If fever persists for more than 72 hours or if there is high grade fever not responding to medication, worsening of cough/cold or any breathing difficulty please consult your pediatrician.
Regards
