How Much Of Breast Milk To Feed For A 5 Month Old Child?
Question: My daughter turned 5 months couple of days back and she is exclusively on breastfeeding.
Her birth weight was 3.25 kg and her current weight is 7.7 kg.
We initially thought of not giving any other food until 6 months but now after 5 months we feel that breast milk is not enough for her. Even though mother has the milk, she is demanding for milk very frequently. She sleeps continuously XXXXXXX for 2 hours and rarely between 3 to 4 hours.
Now that my wife also started going for work, we are extracting the milk at morning and managing it with till afternoon until she comes back home.
We are thinking of starting the semi solid food and need your expert opinion on the same and also the food to start with. She is upto date with her vaccinations.

Brief Answer:
Semisolids can be introduced.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It is really good to know that the child has been exclusively breast fed till now. Although weaning is recommended from 6 months of age, it would be acceptable to introduce some semisolids at this age. You can do so without any worries. You can start with thick liquids like dal, porridge etc., gradually move to mashed boiled potatoes, mashed ripe bananas etc.
Let me know if I could hep further.
