How Much Time Does It Take For Fracture To My Toe To Recover?

Question: I have a fracture to my big toe week ago and it still aches. The podiatrist just told me to wear hard sole shoe and we will re-X-ray in 3 weeks. She said bone usually re-attaches 50 percent of time but if not I will need surgery.
I’m an active person and this is getting me down mentally. If I do have to have surgery can you let me know how long recovery is before I can be active again?
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
As explained below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone throught your query and understand your concern. Yes as long as the bones are not displaced, wearing hard shoes, crepe bandage etc is enough. Do take pain killers as and when required. Fractures usually take 2 to 4 weeks minimum to heal that is pain included. I would suggest you to rest and not worry. Let us wait and watch. Take adequate fluids, multivitamins and calcium for good recovery.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to discuss further if any.
Regards.
