How Much Time Does It Take For Vision To Return When Suffering From Prolactinoma?
My dad got a prolactinoma(pituatory macrodenama) surgery. He lost vision in his left eye before the surgery. The tumour is removed completemly and its benign. How much time it will take for the vision to come back.
Difficult to predict.

Hi Ms XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your father's symptoms and details of diagnosis and surgery.
Unfortunately, he lost vision in left eye before surgery (due to pressure of pituitary tumor on the optic chiasma- nerves for vision).
Usually, this nerve damage is not fully reversible and he is unlikely to recover his vision fully. Even the partial recovery may take several months and it is difficult to predict the extent and timing of vision recovery.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

Not life threatening.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
The disease is not life threatening. He can lead a fairly normal life.
As you have noted, it is a benign tumor and is completely cured.
He needs to follow the medications as advised by the doctor.
Food should contain fresh fruits, milk, dry fruits, eggs, fish, etc.
Exercises would include moving the eye in all directions, and opening and closing eyelids.
Best wishes,

How much time it will take for the right eye to open by itself , as he can open by himself without the hand support?
Is there any treatment for left eye if it doesnot improve? Have you come across any patient who lost vision due to macroadenoma and got it back?
Please advice Sir. I am sorry I am troubling you a lot.
Thanks a lot for the advice,
You are awesome.
Thanks XXXXXXX
Difficult to predict.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
Right eye may open up, however, it may take several months. Exact timeframe is difficult to predict.
Vision may partly recover, however, I have not seen complete recovery of vision.
