How Often Is Hep A2 Vaccination Required For Child?

Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: This is regard of my daughter. She is currently 6.5 years old. I recently got myself enrolled for the Prime Minister's Child vaccination program where you automatically get the SMS reminder for the vaccines due.

Couple of days back I got a SMS reminder that she need to get the dose of Hep A 2 dose. Just wanted to reconfirm if this is correct.

Just for your information, I had her vaccinated for all the things as per schedule.

Also I would like to ask if there is new vaccine schedule with you available.

Brief Answer:
I suggest that you upload the images of the caccine charts of your kid

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I congratulate you on your endeavor of registering for the automatic vaccine reminder.

But usually the Hepatitis A vaccines are given in two doses spaced 6 months apart and the 1 st dose is given at 12 months and second dose at 18 months of age. This is according to the latest schedule. If you have followed this schedule then your daughter might already have received these both doses. But I can be sure about it - only after I see the documents / vaccine chart of your daughter and then guide you further.

I suggest that you upload the images of the vaccine chart of you kid which might be available with you. I will see that and get back to you.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth

Hello Doctor,

I will today share the details with you on this as I am unable to locate her medical file. Please bear with me till that time.

Also had one more query about my daughter. She frequently gets acne/blister on her eyes (Either of the eyelids). Though her eyesight is completely normal. Please can you suggest the reason for the same?

Brief Answer:
Will wait for your records - eye problem could be stye

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I understand. I will wait till the question expires for the records please.

Regarding the eye problem - by what you quote I feel that what you are describing is looking like stye a sort of meibomian gland infection or sebaceous gland infection near eye lids. But I will be more confident in guiding you regarding this if you can send me a photograph if she develops it again.

This is not related to her eye sight at all.

She needs to be cleaning her eyes frequently with fresh clean water to prevent the same.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
