Brief Answer:
Wilson's disease progresses slowly over 20-25years

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, and I will be answering your question.

Wilson's disease is a relatively rare genetic disease and it is basically because of accumulation of copper in the tissues.
The disease basically involves the liver and the brain. Eyes, kidneys and heart are the other organs involved.
The disease is a treatable condition and hence no need to worry.

The progression of the disease depends on the organs involved and usually it progresses slowly over 20-25 years when no treatment is done.
With proper treatment the condition does not progress, hence no need to worry.

Being an ophthalmologist I have been involved in the diagnosis of Wilson's disease I have seen all the patients are doing very well with treatment.

Hence the progression basically depends on the stage of presentation and treatment.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you

Can symptoms appear out of the blue and get progressively worse in a short amount of time? Like with my situation I had panic attacks out of nowhere and since then I've become weak, it's been about two months, could Wilson's disease be a possibility?

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are not present in Wilson's disease

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up.

I reviewed your history and I can understand your concerns.

Wilson's disease is a genetic disease and it presents usually in the age of late childhood which slowly progresses till the late adulthood.
It will not present as acute panic attacks as neurological involvement occurs quiet late in this problem.
It is highly unlikely that you are having Wilson's disease and hence no need to worry.
If you are in doubt you can undergo simple blood tests to assess the blood copper levels, liver function tests and eye examination to look for copper deposition ring in the cornea called as Kayser Fleischer ring...
These tests will clear your doubt. But clinically your presentation and your age will not favour the diagnosis of Wilson's disease.

Hence no need to worry.

Wishing you a good health.

Thank you
