Question: How related is mild eosinophilia (less than 1) and indication of inflamation with spinal cord or colon cancer? At the same time there is eczema in hands and gam inflamation. For the past 3-4 years could see sometimes blood after defacation. About two years ago had a case of sciatica that was fixed with voltarol (immediate relief). What are the signs of spinal cord cancer and how fast does the cancer there spread?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of cancer needs to be investigated earliest

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
The eosinophils count shows some allergic problem in your body...in your case it seems to be exaema .
Occurance of blood after defecation can not necessarily be colon cancer...Severe constipation or piles can also cause such bleeding...needs to be excluded if persistent.
Now about spinal cancer....
- Cancer anywhere in body shows unintended weight loss (more than 10 kgs) / weakness,/increasing tumor or progressive bleeding from anywhere in body./ cough ,long standing nonresponding to treatment.,trouble breathing./bowel or bladder habit changes...
- Spinal cancer can progress within few days to few months....A lesion outside spinal cord takes longer.but once it reaches in spinal cord the progress is fast.
The specific symptoms of any spinal involvement are..Back pain../ tingling, numbness in body/ difficulty in walking in night/radiating nerve pains.(but sciatica few years ago will not diagnose cancer)
*I have narrated few possible symptoms of cancer in general& spinal cord cancer...to help you note them...& if you find few of them you need not jump on possibility of cancer.on your own &start worrying......You should consult your family doctor earliest, for primary assessment & investigations as per need. & consult an oncologist if he suggests.
I hope you understand what I want to suggest &the answer helps you.Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
