How Risky Is Scuba Diving At The Age Of 74?
Question: I am 74 and in reasonably good health. I was once scuba certified when I was younger. I want to go scuba diving again. Is this really risky?
Brief Answer:
it depends on heart and lung function
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
Age for itself is no problematic for diving and even much older people do it. More important is general condition especially heart and lung function if there is any sign of coronary disease or chronic lung disease, you should not do it. If you become tired easily or feel pain in chest after walking, you should avoid it as well.
Otherwise, you can dive, of course, just go step by step,as a beginner, avoid longer diving and deeper areas and use appropirate equipment, and never dive alone.
To be sure about your heart and lung function, you should visit your doctor and do tests if required. Wish you good health. Regards
