How Safe Is It Using The Synvisc Into The Knees?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Nov 2022
Question: I'm confused on which course to take. My knee physical therapist says she sees many patients who have had great success on using the synvisc into the knee. The orthopedist I go to just wants to give shots into knee and is opposed to Viscosupplementation. This is just a pain relief, I know, but why is he so opposed and other ortho surgeons are filling to do it?? The oloryjo surgeon I talk about works for public hospital and teaches at the med school here. Do patients have terrible reactions to synvisc?? Why would he be so opposed???

Brief Answer:
You can take synvisc.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
SYNVISC is a viscosupplement injection that supplements the fluid in your knee to help lubricate and cushion the joint, and can provide up to six months of osteoarthritis knee pain relief with three injections.
There is as such no harm in taking synvisc but it has some side effects like
warmth, pain, stiffness, swelling, or puffiness where the medicine was injected;
muscle pain, trouble walking;
fever, chills, nausea;
numbness or tingly feeling;
headache, dizziness;
tired feeling; or.
itching or skin irritation around the knee.
This may be the reason he is opposing it , but these are mild side effects not terrible one , so in my opinion you can take Synvisc One .
Synvisc-One is the same formulation as Synvisc . The only difference is that Synvisc-One is provided with one injection, compared to the three injections required for Synvisc. Both treatments can provide up to six months of osteoarthritis knee pain relief.

Regards.
