How Serious My HIV Risk I Gave A Blow Job To A Unknown Man?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Dec 2022
Question: Hello. For the first time, I gave a blow job to a man. I do not know anything about him other than he was probably in his 70s and in a video arcade. His ejaculation was very minimal. I am bipolar and, when having an episode, am susceptible to bad judgment. Not surprisingly, now that my mood has leveled off, I am concerned about consequences. In particular, I am concerned about how serious my HIV risk is. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission is low with oral sex.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your medical history is grossly inadequate. I am not able to guess your gender from your name. Blow job first time with an individual in his seventies?
Quantity of the ejaculum has no influence in transmission of an infection.
As per CDC, oral sex has a low transmission risk for HIV.
I guess that you had inserted your penis into his mouth. Saliva is usually not infectious unless it contains blood due to some oral lesion.
As per Center for Disease Control, USA, it is mentioned in numbers per 10000 exposures whereas for oral sex (both insertive and receptive) as low, that means it is very much low incidence. . PEP after sexual exposure has no value after 72 hours. If you can test that individual for HIV and found to be reactive for HIV and if you are within 72 hours after exposure then you can have a course of PEP. It is better. Otherwise when the individual's HIV status is unknown and when you are not having any oral lesion no necessary to HIV PEP as the risk is very low.
If you perform oral sex on him, if you have some oral pathology, your risk is little high.
But generally the risk of HIV transmission through oral sex is low Compared to anal and vaginal sex.
Only with the blood test for HIV, one can rule out HIV infection conclusively.
Thanks.
