How Should Episodes Of Occasional Spells Of Vomiting Phlegm Followed By Profuse Sweating And Extreme Diarrhea Be Diagnosed And Dealt With?

Question: my husband occasionally has spells that result in vomiting phlegm, followed by profuse sweating which is followed by extreme diarrhea. He is bedfast from a stroke all this happens within an short period of tine and always in the same series of symptoms. I would like to know what causes it so that I can prevent it in the future. He had the stroke in 2013 but these spells have been occurring in the last three years at a rate of every three to four months. Is it a blood sugar problem? Blood Pressure? How can prevent it?
Brief Answer:
A number of causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This could be due to a number of causes including hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, opioids side effects or gastritis. I would recommend that you get a blood test to check on your blood glucose levels (both fasting and postprandial) together with a blood test to check on your thyroid hormonal profile (T3, T4 and TSH). If both were found normal then you should get a test for H. pylori infection which is the most common cause of gastritis.
I hope you find this helpful.
