Question: Hello doctor, Good Evening. Contacting your assistance for my son aged 8.5 years. Since today morning (July 28, 2018), he is looking very dull, full tiredness and continous vomit. He is having this problem since today morning only. His fever is normal (98.6' F), no head ache, no stomach pain, no pain in eyes and his urine is light yellowish in colour. At around 15:00 IST today, we have given Emeset (kids) syrup 10ml before food, given food after a gap of ~30 minutes and Dolo 250mg syrup 4ml after food. We have also taken blood test today and attached the reports for your reference. Kindly check and advice.

Brief Answer:
Emeset helps in controlling vomiting, details below

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have seen the reports and would like to continue the Emeset.
Watch for vomiting, signs of dehydration and general activity.
In blood report the total leukocyte count is within normal limit with relative increase in neutrophils. The test for dengue is negative.

You have mentioned that the temperature is normal but I would like to know if there is any history of fever. As fever is one of the major symptom of dengue and also if fever is not there then why you have given DOLO(paracetamol).

If there is no fever history then I would like to continue the Emeset for one more day with plenty of fluids. If vomiting persists or any fever is there an would like to get few more blood tests done like CRP(C reactive protein) and procalcitonin for bacterial infection.

So in brief I would like to continue Emeset, observe for worsening of symptoms or fever. If any significant problem is there please consult your pediatrician.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards
