How Soon Can One Resume Driving After A C-section Delivery?

Question: hi, I would like to know that after a c-section, when can I start driving. I did remember driving my son to his doctor visits in the first 10days after my c-section (pre-eclamsia) 4 years ago. I don't recall Dr saying anything about driving but all my friends said that they not suppose to drive for a few weeks or so. I have a 4 years old and go to school, I need to drop off and pick him up from school still after the c-section with my 2nd kid. so will I be able to drive? my cell section is in XXXXXXX which will be snow and bad road in iowa.
Brief Answer:
1-2 weeks of no driving...
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the question.
Typically we tell women no driving for two weeks. What I tell patients is that you can drive when your pain is well controlled OFF narcotics and there are no other issues such as dizziness with movement, for example. I would say that most women get to this point by about a week after their C-section. Also, if this is a planned C-section it is likely that it will go better than before if the C-section was the result of a failed labor.
I hope that this helps.
