How Soon Can One Resume Sexual Life Post D&C?

Question: Hello , i'm 25 years old . And i just had a D&c at 12 weeks due to incomplete micarrige . My doctor started me on Doxycylcine for a week . And she told me that i can get pregnant whenever i like . I did some research and i have concerns about getting pregnant so soon . So my question is how soon i can resume my sex life again after D&c and for how long i should wait until trying again and when to start OTC

Better is to wait, three to six months after abortion is done

Hi dear and thanks for your query.
I'm sorry for your missed pregnancy but hope for the best.

Sex life can be resumed after 4 to 6 weeks.

In fact some data show that women can try to conceive immediately after the first cycle of the abortion is done.
But better is to wait three to six months after the abortion is done.
Hence if you will be fine and your cycle will ne regular you can try after three months.
I'm my clinic this is my opinion for all patients that have passed this scenario as you.
During this time use folic acid 400 micro gram per day and be calm because being stressed can cause some health issues.

The doctor who did the d&c fore told me I can resume sex if the spotting and bleeding stop because this means the os is closed.
Reading ur answer does this means u will bleed for the next 4 to 6 weeks . And what are the risks of having sex earlier .

Hi dear again!

You can resume sex life two to three weeks after abortion is done ,but the maximum time of puerperal period or involution of uterus and genital organs (The process by which the uterus and the other genital organs return to their normal pre-pregnant state)is four to six weeks .
Hence you are free to resume your sex life after two to three weeks ,but only if you feel ready(feel strong)

The reason why you is told to avoid having sex for two to three weeks ,maximally six weeks , after your abortion is because of the small risk of infection after this procedure.
