How To Check For Hernia In Abdomen?

Question: Hello, 2 and a 1/2 months ago I went for a physical where I told my Dr. about lower abdominal pain I've had for several weeks now which I believed to be a hernia since I've had two in the past. There was no bulge found, so I was sent to get an ultrasound. The radiologist believed that I had a medium sized hernia, so I was sent to a general surgeon. She took my history and palpated the area and found no bulge so she stated that ultrasounds often misdiagnose hernias all the time and it's most likely a muscle strain. It's been over three months I've been very careful not to strain or push to hard and I have little improvement. Could this be something else entirely or is it just going to take more time to heal?
Brief Answer:
can be hernia
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Yes that can still be hernia, most likely a recurrence.
Usually in hernia, the clinical examination is the final, but in a recurrance, the clinic signs might get masked by the altered anatomy and fibrosis from the previous surgery.
The best and the diagnostic test is ct scan. So either you can consult another surgeon or get a scan for confirmation.
Hope, i have been helpful.
