How To Check For Pregnancy?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My girlfriend and I had intercourse 10 days ago. She was on the 3rd day of her periods and she had discharge as well. Now she is worried that she might be pregnant. We both are in no condition to have a baby, is there a way we can find out if she is pregnant ? Where we live abortions are illegal too, is there any way how we can stop this pregnancy if she is?
Brief Answer:
Almost zero chance of pregnancy....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Days when a woman has menstrual period are considered as most safest time for sexual intercourse as chance of pregnancy is close to zero. So, though there are no clear clinical symptoms/signs that can indicate pregnancy, I do not think she will become pregnant.
So based on the facts that you presented she need not be worried. It is extremely unlikely that she will end up pregnant.
There is no plan of action in this case. She can wait for her period to resume. Keep her positive. Avoid unprotected intercourse in future especially when law of state doesn't permit abortion legally.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX
That you for your prompt reply. That is quite an assuring answer. The confusion we have is that we are not sure if it is the 3rd or the 4th day of her periods.
The only thing we are sure of is that, there was a heavy discharge on the day and the day to follow.
Another concern is that she has been showing signs of loss of appetite, nausea and backache. She is due for her next period by the last week of this month or fist week of next month. Is there something we can do in the meantime to reduce the chances of pregnancy. We have read that consumption of Vitamin C helps.
Please advise and thanks for your help again.

Brief Answer:
vitamin c has no effect
Detailed Answer:
Medically we consider the first day of menstrual bleeding as the first day of menstrual cycle. And as per calculation method the days when woman have menstrual bleeding are the most safest days. It doesn't matter whether its 3rd day or 5th day, those are unfertile days so no chances of Pregnancy. Therefore my previous answer holds good.
