Posted on Tue, 15 Oct 2024
Question: I am not able to control the hair fall from past 4-5 years.I don't know the reason behind this.I never took any medication for this.I tried home remedies multiple times but nothing worked for me.
I thought it is because of dandruff that is causing hair fall but these days I don't have dandruff still hair fall is there.I don't know about the vitamins that can cause hair fall.
Food: I am taking a proper diet.I don't eat fast food at all.
Water: For hair wash, I use very neat and clean water but In the past I also used hard water as well.
Please suggest any exercise as well.

Brief Answer:
Hair fall can be due to many causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern regarding hair loss and here is my advice.

Common causes for hair loss are nutritional deficiency, anaemia, thyroid problem, stress, chronic medical illness, drugs, heredity. In males, androgenic alopecia is also common.

We have to find out the reason for the hair loss first and treat it accordingly. Therefore please let me know if you are developing any bad patches or not? I have noted other symptoms like dry skin, dandruff.
Does anyone in your family has similar symptoms? Are new hair growing? If new hair are growing, then it is a temporary phase and new hair will grow.

You can take biotin tablets for it. You should take it once a day for minimum 3 month. It will improve hair growth and quality and prevent hair loss.
You can also use coconut oil.
Take sound sleep of 7-8 hours.

Kindly revert with more details so that I am better able to help.

Regards
Dr Vaishalee

Hey Doc,

Thank you for your detailed reply.
Here are my answers.

please let me know if you are developing any bad patches or not!
-> 2 months I was having bad patches as I was having dandruff so this was causing itching and I used to scratch it but Now I don't have dandruff and bad patches. Dandruff is the thing that really bothers me. it keep on coming after some days.

Does anyone in your family has similar symptoms?
-> No, my parents and siblings have no such issues.

Are new hair growing?
-> yes, but not much. I can see small hair but issue is that root is very weak. Even new hair are also falling.

if new hair are growing, then it is a temporary phase and new hair will grow.
-> this hair fall is from last 5 years and now I am almost on there the verge of losing my hair. only the front part of the head so its not temporary phase.

Have you taken any medicine ?
- > I have not taken any medicine in the past , I tried few home remedies , nothing else.

You can take biotin tablets for it. You should take it once a day for minimum 3 month
- > Sure, Will start with this.

You can also use coconut oil.
-> Now, I am using coconut hair oil only.in the past sometimes I used Almond oil and sometimes Mustard oil.

Take sound sleep of 7-8 hours.
-> Yes, I am taking.

Note: I am using neat and clean water for hair wash.I don't think that there is any issue with water.
In diet, I don't take any fast food as well. I also don't take Alcohol and smoke. But in the past(2 years back) I have used hard water for hair wash.

My queries:
1) I can see my hair root are very weak. even it is very hard to identify which part is root of the hair. Please suggest anything that can help to strengthen the hair roots.

2)Please suggest something out of the box that can help to reduce my hair fall.

3)I don't wash my hair from shampoo regularly(washing daily only with water). I use shampoo once in a week or once in 10 days. Kindly suggest me which shampoo to use and how and when to use?

4) In the past, one doctor(dermatologist) suggest me to use Minoxidil lotion to use. I did not try this till now.do you suggest the same? if not can you please clarify this. Sorry to ask this question. please reply if possible.

FYI: I have attached the images of my hair.

Brief Answer:
It could be chronic telogen effluvium or androgenic alopecia

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Thanks for reverting back with details.

From your description and photos, it could be chronic telogen effluvium or androgenic alopecia.

Regarding chronic telogen effluvium, we need to identify cause and treat it. it could be some stress, infection etc that may have started it. The cause needs to be avoided.

Dandruff can keep coming back and can cause hair loss especially if we are using anti-dandruff shampoo or other medicated products. This is the obvious cause for your hair loss. I would suggest to just apply some reetha - water to hair and rinse it off. A simple shampoo like Loreal 6 oil nourish can also be used. Head wash can be done every 2-3 days.
Drinking cleaner water (low TDS) helps reduce dandruff.

Since no one in your family have this issue, it is less likely to be androgenic. Minoxidil will work in this disorder.

In allopathy, Minoxidil or injections of steroids in the bald scalp patches can be tried. Both will restore hair atleast for sometime.

Nutritional deficiency needs to be ruled out. For this certain blood tests can be done including Complete Blood Count, thyroid studies, liver function test, kidney function test, screening for iron deficiency with iron, total iron binding capacity, and ferritin, serum Biotin levels, serum calcium levels.

Out of the box treatment could be ayurveda or naturopathy products like XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Tattva

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Weak hair roots

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Hair roots being invisible could be due to two reasons:
- the hair are damaged and break from above root
- hair are entering into resting phase too soon possibly due to some nutritional deficiency or any other problem that doesnot allow the hair root to grow

There are many remedies in market for making hair roots stronger. One of them is Grocapix solution that can be applied over bald patch in night and washed in morning.
I personally think that coconut oil is best for any skin or scalp problem. It is known since ages to have medicinal value.
I would also suggest you to avoid hair dyes, hair dryer, or any other type of damage to hair.
