How To Cope With Feeding A Fussy Teenager?
I have 2 kids , elder one of age 13.5yrs n younger one of 5 yrs.
My elder one is fussy child, i wish to seek advice in this regard. He is in 8th standard
Playing out, watching tv, playing games on computer n XXXXXXX r his favourite time pass.
He's obedient in school, scores more than 85%.
But
1)He is a fussy eater, we have to feed him every meal.
2)He doesn't behave well, I mean he doesn't listen in 1 go. We have to command him several times for any task...like wearing slippers, managing himself( fminirm brush to keeping clean), support in household chores, eating etc.
3) Can do much better in studies. we know he is capable but not ready to study regularly. Always linger on and then study at the last moment. we ask him to do it regularly may be 30 min or 1 hr/day.
4)Keep on pushing us to bend on his demands like asking for XXXXXXX internet for games, chatting etc. Blackmail us emotionally. Whenever we ask him for better grades, as he can do it if he studies regularly, counter question us for our grades during school time.
His behavior is spoiling my younger one n troubling alot to we both parents.
Kindly advice n guide me on how to deal with him.
This is a part of growth
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have gone through the details and do understand your concern well.
As the child grows and enter into teenage, they try to express their individuality and develop a sense of freedom. He may remained indulged into his own activities.
Parents try to impose themselves or their own wishes and this can cause some kind of conflict with them.Sometimes this conflict may even cause disturbances.
I won't get worried as this is limited to home only and he is obedient in school and doing well in terms of grades.
I suggest you not to react by loosing your temper if he responds with disobedience or disrespect.Better way is that you remain calm, cooperative and be consistent. This will make him more obedient.
He will learn to be respectful if you respect him.
I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to help you out if you have any more queries.
Wishing good health for your family.
