How To Correct Pigeon Toe In Toddlers?

Pigeon toed is normal in toddler, regular follow up is necessary
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Pigeon toed(In toeing) is normal in toddlers. Pigeon toe can be due to growing bone of the toddlers or due to bony abnormality(when it is severe and not improving).
In toeing can be caused due to structural changes either at the ankle level or knee and hip level. Severe form of In toeing are due to changes at ankle level which may need treatment like stretching, shoes or braces.
It's good that you have visited the doctor after noticing In toeing of your baby. Because evaluation by a physician should be done to find out early, whether it is benign or pathological.
Usually baby outgrow this condition by the age of 3-4 years. In some babies it may take upto 8 years of age. If in regular follow up it is increasing or not subsiding till 8 years of age and causing difficulty in walking then treatment would be needed.
The severe form of In toeing usually get detected by an educated mother at 6-7 months of age. In milder form it appears when baby starts walking.
You also said that she has started later than her siblings.
Development of infants varies according to individual. If a baby not starts to walk without support till the age of 18 month then this is concerning.
So I would suggest you to follow up regularly with your physician and need not to worry till age of 3 years. Also her development is normal as she has started walking.
I will be glad to answer if you have any further query.
