Question: Hi, my partner and I were play fighting in kitchen and his heel ended up whacking straight on the top of my foot and bottom of leg where it joins and my veins in foot have swelled right up and painful as. Have got ice on it atm but is stinging a lot
Brief Answer:
Likely to be hematoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
It seems that you had a soft tissue injury at the top of the foot. The swelling and tingling in the area is due to hematoma formation and compression of the nerve endings in the area.
If there is not much pain on the weight bearing then a bone injury is not likely. You can do a cold compress for few more days and keep the foot elevated on two pillows while resting for the swelling to reduce.
In case there is an intense pain in the area on weight bearing or increase in the size of swelling- not coloration or tingling then you need to go for X-ray and other investigations.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

is more paintul when relaxed and foot is stretched, very hard to put in a comfortable postion unless lying down. should I be working ( a standing job) or driving as I drive a manual and its my clutch foot? thank you
Brief Answer:
No driving.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Weight bearing on the foot and driving are not recommended. You need to give rest to your foot for at least 2 weeks. Using an ankle brace will help in providing relief.
Hope my answer is helpful.
