Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: Hello Doctor, My 2.5y old son is a very picky eater, recently he had a bad viral fever and lost about a kg of weight, he now weighs 13kg and is 3ft in ht, his development in other aspects is fine, except that he is not interested in food and it takes a lot of effort to feed him. Can you suggest me changes in his routine, so that he might be interested in food. Also he has only 18 tooth till now, is that a concern? Thanks Trupti

Brief Answer: relax. Detailed Answer: Hi. Thanks for your query. I understand your concern. It is very common for young children to behave like this. Yes you have be very patient with them. His weight is appropriate for his age and his dental development is also normal. Regarding feeding I suggest you to do following steps. -feed him while other family members are having food. -apply two spoon method that is give one spoon to him and one to yourself. -made him sit with all of you and let him feed himself as slowly he will develop interest in taking food. All this is very gradual process. Give him fruit, vegetables, pulses.cereals, milk Avoid all kind of junk food. Hope I have answered your query . Wishing your baby good health . God bless.
