Posted on Wed, 30 Apr 2014
Question: Hello Doctor, I entered 9th month of pregnancy today. In the beginning i was 52 kg weight . I reduced to 48 in first 3 months and now i gained weight , my current weight is 58.7 kg. 2 days back i had ultrasound growth scan, in that baby weight is mentioned as 2.3 Kg. So is it ideal baby weight. Amniotic fluid is mentioned as 11 , adequate. So how should be the baby weight by the time i complete 9 months. How can it be increased to 3kg. Can you please tell me how much weight should i gain in this 9th month so that my baby weight will be increased to 3kg. Please suggest wat kind of food i need to have for this and also in the 9th month of pregnancy ?

Brief Answer: optimal weight of both mother and baby. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX thanks for trusting health care magic. Usual weight gain in pregnancy is between 9-11 kilos. So you have gained adequate amount of weight. Usual weight of baby is 2-2.2 kilos at 34 weeks so that way also you are having a normal growing healthy baby. This pace of growth if continues then average weight of the baby will be around 3 kilos at the time of birth. The best foods around this time include high protein diet like pulses, sprouts, fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Always try to lie down in lateral position and preferably left lateral position because it helps in delivery of adequate oxygen to the baby. Wish you the best of health and in case you have more questions I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer: avoid caffeine, fried food.non veg is good for you Detailed Answer: Welcome back XXXX, acidity is a common problem in pregnancy. You should - avoid taking excessive tea or coffee especially empty stomach - avoid fried and spicy snacks - take milk before sleeping which is a natural antacid and rich in calcium - take small frequent meals Non vegetarian food is rich in protein so will help in baby weight gain, including non vegetarian food in your menu will be very beneficial.
