Chest pain can be related to any structure in the chest from the skin inwards, including the muscles and connective tissue, the ribs and sternum, the esophagus, the lungs and the heart.
Heart related pain usually occurs in persons with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, family history of heart disease or previous history of heart disease. It is normally central chest pain, tight or heavy in nature, starts when you are active and stops when you rest, associated with shortness of breath and heart beating quickly. It is not affected by lifting arms or any specific movement.
If your pain is like the above then you need to visit your doctor for an evaluation of your heart.
Other causes of chest pain would be costochondritis which is associated with inflammation of the joints where the ribs XXXXXXX the sternum, can also cause pain. this would be central pain, it can be very bad in some persons, worse when you press the central chest or on moving the trunk of the body. It is treated with pain medication.
Pain on the left side may be due inflammation of the muscles in this area, in this case you would notice that the pain gets worse when you move in a specific way, this is treated with voltaren.
It can also be related to inflammation of the lining of the lung, the pleura. This inflammation can occur if there is a previous history of a cold or other infection of the lung, it can also occur in persons who have other illnesses such SLE or rheumatoid arthritis. In rare cases it can occur without any known cause, it may be associated with shortness of breath and may seem worse on taking a XXXXXXX breath. It is treated with anti inflammatory pain medication.
If it does not fit heart related pain and you have used pain medication which have not helped , then you should consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation, if possible.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
thanx for giving me consultation in such wonderful way.
In winter season i was feeling more in the night time, i am having a gastic and stone problem also, does it also cause such things.
Irritation or inflammation of the stomach can cause pain in the top part of the abdomen but is not usually associated with pain in the chest.
A stone in the gallbladder would cause pain in the abdomen which is worse on using fatty foods, it can also cause nausea and vomiting in some persons.
A stone in the kidneys can cause severe cramping pain in the abdomen , on the particular side of the stone.Because the pain is usually severe, it can be associated with vomiting as well.
If the pain is worse at night during the winter, it implies that it is related to a drop of temperature that would occur at night.
In some persons reduced temperature can affect pain in joints and muscles but the most common cause for chest pain in cold temperatures is asthma.
Asthma is associated with shortness of breath and wheezing, the pain is usually a tight pain.
It is treated with inhalors.
