Brief Answer: Take pain killer... Detailed Answer: Dear Madam, Well looking into your problem it seems you have acute tonsillitis. The acute tonsil inflammation is causing the pain while swallowing. Cephalexin in most cases is good enough to take care of infection, but inflammation is going to take some time to settle. Therefore you will need some time before you feel better. I understand its painful now. Therefore I would advise you to start gargles with warm water along with mixing some salt in it . Saline gargles will help relieve the pain. Also keep yourself hydrated with having lots of warm liquids. You can also try throat lozenges to soothen the throat. Next is you can take tylenol pain relief twice a day; it would work. Eat soft and bland diet. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance. Take care. Dr. Shruti
