How To Get Rid Of Tingling/numbing Sensation On The Outside Of My Left Thigh?

Question: Hello,
Good evening. For years I have been dealing with this tingling/numbing sensation on the outside of my left thigh. It occurs when I stand up for too long or lay down for too long.
I have visited multiple chiropractors and it doesn’t seem to help. I am overweight now but at the time when this first became a problem I was not. I was very active and played multiple sports but now it’s hard to do anything because of this issue.
Even just lying here typing this if I attempt to scratch that part of my leg I can’t feel it the same way I can on my other leg. Have I been dealing with this for too long to where now it’s permanent damage? What do I do?

MRI needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
It’s likely you may be having a disc bulge pressing on your nerve in your spine.
Do get an MRI lumbar spine to confirm. Depending on the findings we can know whether its permanent or not. Although its more likely to be reversible in mild cases. Also avoid wearing tight belts which can press a nerve to cause these symptoms.
I hope I have answered your query.

Even though I have been dealing with this for so long, you think there’s still a chance it could be reversible?

Hi there

Yes, I do understand your frustration in this regard
An MRI scan will tell us if you have a trapped nerve. If yes, nerve root spinal injections can help. If not then removal of disc by microdiscectomy will help.
