How To Handle Potty-training Accidents In A Child?
Question: I'm wondering if this is normal my daughter she is 5 she is potty trained but she still has accidents. I'm very concerned about it sometimes she goes without having any. but then it's like she has 2 or 3 a week and sometimes 2 a day
Brief Answer:
Do not worry, your daughter has made great strides
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. Please note that accidents will continue to happen and the frequency will get less. Different children take different times to completely be dry and potty trained, as long as she is headed in the right direction and we are not having a scenario where she is wet all the time, just be very supportive and do not portray undue pressure as this makes it worse as the children get very anxious and want to please you the parents and this often fails. Good luck and maybe a reward system may help.

ok well she has been since she was 4.5 and we can travel 4.5 hours and she dosent have accidents she is in school she has been for about 15 days and she has 2 accidents and that was today and then once when she was home and then one like 2 days ago
Brief Answer:
Environmental changes leading to stress or anxiety can cause this
Detailed Answer:
The condition is called regression and different children will manifest this differently. Could the new school year have triggered this do you think? I would watch it, I am sure this is very bothersome with school and all. Have faith that this will in fact improve.

Brief Answer:
I believe she will slowly change her rhythm.
Detailed Answer:
I would talk to her and try and pay attention to anything that you may suspect is causing her anxiety, frustrating thing is that she may not admit to it anyway even if you figured it out, but please as long as she continues to wet her pants, gather all your strength and objectivity knowing that she is not doing this intentionally. Your love and support will pull her through.
