How To Increase Iron Count?

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Nov 2024
Question: Hello,
I had a full body check up recently and I have attached the report. I see that my vitamin D hasn't improved since last year and B12 has decreased as well. Do you have any suggestions for that.
My iron count is also low since the last check up. And the platelet volume is high for some reason.
I see high TSH, this is the first time I am seeing, should I be concerned?
Please do provide

Brief Answer:
Normal report

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

In my opinion this is a normal report. Some parameters are mildly deranged.

- High TSH---do you have any symptoms of hypothyroidism like fatigue, dry skin, etc?
- Mild bilirubin direct high - I don't think it is clinically relevant unless you have any symptoms related to jaundice
- serum iron is slightly low and you can take Orofer-xt for that for 8-10 days
- Lipids are mildly deranged and you can take dietary measures like low fat diet for this

Otherwise nothing requires specific interventions

Thanks Doctor for the reply.
What about the Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 deficiency? Can I do something about it?

And I don't think I have any of the other hypothyroidism like symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Supplements for b12 and d

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Both Vitamin B12 and D are only borderline deficient.

For vitamin B12, you can take Nurokind - OD daily. It can be taken regularly if the diet is primarily vegetarian.
For vitamin D deficiency, you can take Arachitol nano shots once every two weeks for 2 months.

Regarding TSH levels, you may re-check the levels in 3-6 months. Nothing needs to be done for now.

Dr Vaishalee
