Question: Hi Dr, For the following Query you had suggested thyroid replacement 100mcg.but there are multiple tablets availble.Which one to choose? Thyrox Thyronorm etc? I got my thyroid test done and report are as following T3 : 114 T4 : 8.9 TSH : 10.54 Got it retested to confirm and TSH level came as 8.78 Kindly provide the medication for the same and what are do's and dont's to avoid further rise in TSH

Brief Answer: all standard brands are acceptable. Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Hi! any brand of thyroxine can be taken. thyrox, thyronorm, eltroxin. only thing to remember is take empty stomach, early morning, stay empty stomach for another 30 min after the tab. tablet should not be exposed to heat, sun, or moisture, not of expiry date. further do's - avoid weight gain, avoid goitrogen food like cabbage, do regular exercise. don'ts - don't miss the dose, repeat test after 4-6 weeks and let us know, don't overeat, regards!
