depression and manic phase in life. Each phase last for few weeks to few months.
Your current symptoms negative thinking, confusion, poor concentration and loss of drive are all related to depression. In depression there is more tendency to smoke more.
Primary treatment of bipolar disorder is medical management with mood stabilizers. They prevent and treat both phases (Mania and Depression) of bipolar illness. Following mood stabilizers are commonly used in Bipolar disorder:
Lithium and
Divalproex (Depakote).
Once a person is diagnosed with bipolar illness, he has life long risk of developing manic or depressive episode. Due to that mood stabilizers are used for years for prevention purpose. Antidepressants like
