How To Rectify Probable Branch Vein Occlusion?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Nov 2024
Question: I have been having bluriness in my left eye for many months and finally got to my eye doctor who is referring me to an eye surgeon for probable Branch vein occlusion from taking a picture of the retina there. Problem is it seems to be getting worse with now having double vision. Two questions - due to the double vision now, I have to put a patch over the eye just to focus on doing any kind of paperwork, etc and want to know if a patch is doing any add'l harm. Without it on, cannot focus at all. Second question is this - when I see eye surgeon, is there anything he can do to mitigate these symptoms of blurriness and double vision? Thank u for addressing these 2 questions, esp about the eye patch and if it is an ok thing to do.

Brief Answer:
No the patch wont do any harm

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for your question.
The patch wont do any added harm . Branch venous occlusions occur due to raised blood pressure, diabetes , deranged lipid profile or smoking. There are treatments like injection and laser available which you can try after consulting your doctor.

Hope it helps

Hi, doctor. Just saw the eye surgeon today. After multiple tests, he found it not to be Branch vein occlusion. He said it is cottonwool spot and attributes the blurriness and double vision to high blood pressure. I do have high pressure but have been on med for it now for years so don't understand how all these horrible eye symptoms came on so suddenly 24/7. He suggested I visit medical doctor for a different high bp med. Just wanted to see if u agree and also I am scheduled soon for Botox injections into face I need for neuralgia. Neurologist says it helps with nerves. Just wanted to get your opinion that having these eye symptoms will not be aggravated by Botox and actually, may be a help?
