How To Reduce Severe GERD Type Symptoms For Some Time Now?
Question: I have been getting severe GERD type symptoms for some time now. Pain and discomfort.
Did an Endoscopy this week.
Results are below :
Findings: The examined esophagus was normal. Biopsies were
taken with a cold forceps for histology from the
proximal and distal esophagus.
The Z-line was irregular. Biopsies were taken with
a cold forceps for histology.
A small hiatal hernia was present.
Patchy moderately erythematous mucosa was found in
the gastric fundus, in the gastric body and in the
gastric antrum. Biopsies were taken with a cold
forceps for histology.
A few less than 5 mm sessile polyps with no
stigmata of recent bleeding were found in the
gastric fundus and in the gastric body-likely
fundic gland polyps. Biopsies were taken with a
cold forceps for histology.
The duodenal bulb was normal.
Patchy mildly erythematous mucosa and with no
stigmata of bleeding was found in the second
portion of the duodenum. Biopsies for histology
were taken with a cold forceps for evaluation of
celiac disease.
Impression: - Normal esophagus. Biopsied.
- Z-line irregular. Biopsied.
- Small hiatal hernia.
- Erythematous mucosa in the gastric fundus,
gastric body and antrum. Biopsied.
- A few gastric polyps. Biopsied.
- Normal duodenal bulb.
- Erythematous duodenopathy. Biopsied.
Can you please advice?

Brief Answer:
It is suggestive of unspecific inflammation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The endoscopy report suggests unspecific inflammation in several areas of your stomach and at the junction where the stomach meets the esophagus. The clinical term is gastritis. The doctor also describes a few small polyps, the look completely benign. He has taken biopsies of everything just to make sure that no cancer is missed.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
No need to worry. Symptoms of hiatal hernia are reflux symptoms. Avoid late meals and hot and spicy foods, do not smoke, sleep with your head slightly elevated and if you are overweight, I would also encourage weight loss.
Thanks
