Brief Answer:
Kindly upload an Image for better evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query.

Scars usually white because they are devoid of all skin appendages i.e hair follicles, sweat glands etc.
It is not possible to expect a scar to regrow new hair.

They may appear unsightly specially if in a hair bearing region e.g eyebrows, mustache etc where they may stand out as white glistening tissue.

A wide scar can be simply incised followed by primary closure and close approximation of the edges with the help of suture.
The procedure will give a fine/ narrow scar (of lesser width) and therefore it will be less noticeable.

Another option would be to go for hair transplant in the region of scar which would also make it less noticeable.

-Was it stitched, initially? If not why?
-I would request you to upload an Image for a better assessment?

Regards

Brief Answer:
I suggest Oral antibiotics along with topical antibacterial ointment

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed the Images.

I beg to differ. It should have been stitched because then it would have been a thin line of scar, if it were stitched in time. A wound can be stitched within the first 6 hours.

The wound that I can see in the Image is a wide area, a laceration (approx. 1 cm wide).

I can see that it is still raw and has yellowish floor, which suggests that it has some infection.

It is always advisable to take an Oral antibiotic for a wound such as this because of risk of infection and delayed healing.

Clean it daily with an antiseptic solution e.g betadine solution.

I suggest you to take an Oral antibiotic for a week. My choice would be either cloxacillin or amoxycillin for a week.
These are prescription medications, therefore, I suggest you to talk to your doctor.

Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily.

It should heal in another 5-7 days and only then a procedure like scar revision (primary incision and suturing with close approximation of the edges) Or hair transplant can be considered.

It is unlikely that the resulting scar would regrow hair, on its own because a scar, as I told you, is devoid of all appendages like hair follicles, sweat glands etc

I suggest you to follow up after a week.

Regards
