Question: My husband stopped taking Pramipexole Di 1.5 mg abruptly and has not taken it for nearly three weeks. He didn't realize it controlled his restless legs problems. can he start taking it again or does he need to call his physician and start with a lower dose?
Brief Answer:
Start low dose pramipexole and increase gradually
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Pramipexole is good drug for restless leg syndrome.
Patient should also get evaluated for iron deficiency in restless leg syndrome.
Do a iron profile testing.
To restart , start with lower dose of 0.125 mg and then increase gradually if needed by 0.125 mg every 3-5 days.
Look for any postural hypotension or other side effects.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Can a 1.5mg pramipexole tablet be cut in fourths to restart the drug after accidently stopping it three weeks ago? Or must he get a new prescription?
Brief Answer:
can break in parts
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If the 1.5 mg dose is not a ER preparation then can be broken safely with maintained efficacy else the response may be less.
But you can break in 4 parts as more dose will be having side effects.
Try for few days.
If you do not get any response then consult the treating physician.
