How To Rule Out An Under-active Thyroid?
After the doctor prescribed me 32 mg of nature-throid the first two weeks were great virtually no symptoms .No cold feet ,I felt warmer ,Id wake up with a calm like feeling ,no anxiety or depression during the day everything was gone.
Well on the third week or so that changed I started waking up during the night, anxious like feeling during the morning and some during the day .I was starting to get hot flashes during the day.My appetite was kinda off .
My question is why is this happening? Why did I feel so good in the beginning?
Thyroid
Detailed Answer:
Nature thyroid is not recommended by most thyroid experts worldwide. In fact it is deemed unsafe.
Your symptoms are possibly due to the use of nature thyroid.
The best way to treat a correctly diagnosed under-active thyroid is with levo thyroxine.
When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:
CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
Calcium
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your 3 month glucose average)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
25 hydroxy Vitamin D
Follow up
Detailed Answer:
If levo thyroxine is inadvertently taken in higher-than-necessary doses it can cause such problems. This typically tends to happen during the initial dose adjustment phase
If your TSH and Free T4 are in target range while on treatment with levo thyroxine then none of your symptoms ca be attributed to the the thyroid condition.
