How To Rule Out Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Question: I have resently had a sensory NCS done on my right wrist the conclusion is compatible with right carpel syndrome amongst other things also close clinical correlation is recommended what does this mean.
Brief Answer:
Close clinical correlation explained
Detailed Answer:
hi,
thanks for your question.
close clinical correlation simply means that the physician who referred you for the nerve conduction studies should be sure that your symptoms and clinical signs are consistent with this diagnosis. an abnormality on a test does not always mean that a patient has symptoms related to the condition in question.
for example it is possible to have a nerve conduction study test that shows slowing in conduction of the median nerve without the patient actually complaining of any symptoms consistent with this I.e. carpal tunnel syndrome.
I hope this answers your question
best wishes
