default
Posted on Fri, 30 Jan 2015
Question: I've been using yaz oral pill for a year. But i want to try althe this time. How will i start with it? Last white pill from yaz was jan2,2015. I want to have a normal bleeding during my period. I believe yaz, controls the bleeding and sometimes not bleeding normally during my period causes me headache. Thank you. Can i also take metformin and xenical twice a day? Without decreasing the effect of my OCP?

Brief Answer:
you can switch to althea...as explained

Detailed Answer:
hello,
thanks for contacting healthcaremagic.

Althea is a low dose oc pill generally prescribed for PCOS patients. If you a case of PCOS , then you may start the same as follows.
1. Allow the withdrawal bleed to start after yaz last dose intake.
2. then you may start ALTHEA tabs ( 21 day pill) from day 1 or day 2 of start of menses and continue for 21 days....
3. then once the pack is finished wait for the menstrual withdrawal bleed to start before starting a fresh pack from day 2 again.
this schedule would give you regular monthly bleed and contraceptive protection as well , but don't miss any pill ever. Set an alarm in your XXXXXXX
metformin can be taken in PCOS and prevent insulin resistance, so can be used if your sugar levels are high or if you are obese.
Xenical or calcium may also be used 500-1000mg per day without any side effects.
