Question: I have a foot fracture (in front of my ankle)of 5mm and am in a cast. (2 weeks) Besides my regular calcium , is there another supplement that might speed the healing of the bone? I am trying to avoid surgery.

Brief Answer:
Avoid alcohol and smoking - very important. Eat lots of proteins.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Eating healthy its very important, especially protein. Dairy products are rich in protein and also have calcium.
Avoid alcohol and smoking because they slow the healing process.
No need of other supplements other than these.

Follow your doctors advice, keep the foot elevated, take the painkiller as recommended, don't bare weight on the foot...

Having surgery or not will not depend on the supplements you take but on how will your body heal. Sometimes, even if you do all the right things, it still needs some reconstruction. But hopefully that wont be the case with you.
Wish you a speedy healing.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
