How To Treat Swollen Esophagus?
Question: how do you treat swollen esophagus that is getting worse nd has been going on for over a month?
Brief Answer:
Proton pomp inhibitors should help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
If you have difficult, painful swallowing, heartburn and nausea/vomiting you may suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
First of all you can try over the counter antacids (do not use it more than 2 weeks). If this will not help you will need proton pump inhibitor which should be prescribed by your doctor. Avoid spicy foods and alcohol. If you smoke stop it.
Also you may need upper endoscopy to rule out other esophageal disorders. For this make an appointment with gastroenterologist.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
