How To Withdraw From Geodon?
You can titrate easliy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
I have gone through your detail history of medicines. You are taking few medicines and history of many physical-psychological problems.
You are taking geodon since 2006, along pretty period.Yes tachycardia can be due to geodon, but it is not the only cause I guess. For confirmation correlation of history needed.IF you have tachycardia since 2006 after starting geodon, it can be the cause. But if tachycardia is the recent event, it can be due to physical problem itself and/or drug interaction. Lopressor will help to control tachycardia and that is good idea to add.
You are on 40 mg and that is not much higher dose. You can easily reduce to 20 mg without any discomfort which is the minimum dose required. You are on efffexor, xanax and zoplidem ,so no need to worry about any discomfort.Even if you want to stop you can stop also after 10 days of 20 mg.
No, on low dose , you will not have any tardive dyskinesia as it is not there since 2006, rather it can occur on higher dose.
Hope I have answered your query,I will be happy to help further.
regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Hi thanks for follow up query and sorry for somewhat delayed reply.
Actually in initial question you didn't ask for causes of tachycardia.
You had history of alcohol use as well as smoking is going on. These both substance can cause changes in heart output and tachycardia.
Effexor is known for causing hypertension which also cause tachycardia in some patients.
Zolpidem is also commonly causing tachycardia.
You are over weight and having history of anxiety, depression,PTSD and arthritis; these all factors reactively stimulate sympathetic system and can cause tachycardia.
Recently you had increased sugar level as well as high cholesterol, these both factors affect heart and cause tachycardia.
ASA however can help you to control tachycardia.
I have given list of causes not to confuse you but for your understanding that tachycardia is just the sign, not any disease. One need to treat or control the situation causing it. Geodon is only a small factor I guess for your tachycardia among many factors. Late your physician decide what to do as it is complex situation and until your EKG and 2D-ECHO finding are within normal limit, no need to worry much about tachycardia.
Hope I have answered your query satisfactorily,I will glad to answer further.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.
