How Worried Should We Be About This Fever Coming After Appendectomy ?
Question: My granddaughter who is studying in Italy had an appendectomy on Friday. the doctor said it was a nasty appendix; perforated but it did not rupture. She is still in the Nuovo Hospital and is experiencing a fever periodically. She is on an intravenous antibiotiotic, is able to eat, move around, go to the bathroom. How worried should we be about this fever?

As you mention a perforated appendix hence the fever post surgery is expected .Usually with IV antibiotics the fever should settle within 24 to 48 hours .Kindly look for signs of any pus and swelling at the site of sutures or if the fever last more than 48 hours I would recommend you to get the surgeons opinion.
