Brief Answer:
CHG indicates iron deficiency state

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on 'Ask A Doctor' service.

The complete hemogram (CHG) shows low hemoglobin (Hb), low MCV, low MCH and low MCHC.
These values are seen in microcytic anemia, a type of anemia wherein the size of red blood cells is reduced.

I suggest you to get a latest peripheral blood smear examination and reticulocyte count also to assess response to iron supplementation.

The iron level is within normal biological reference range.
Ferritin is also normal, however, at lower end of the range.

I suggest you to continue iron supplementation after consulting your primary healthcare provider since ferritin stores are still not adequate.

Platelet count is mildly elevated, however, there is nothing much to worry since iron deficiency state may be associated with thrombocytosis.

Polycythemia vera is a condition wherein the red blood cell count and hemoglobin are elevated, however, there is no such finding in your case.

As you have mentioned that you have been suffering from gastritis, I suggest you to get a gastric biopsy to know the cause of gastritis.

Erosive gastritis in case log term intake of pain killers and NSAIDs can cause occult bleeding and hence iron deficiency.

You may also get a stool for occult blood.

Thanks and take care
