I Am 49 And Male. Back In March 2019, I

Question: I am 49 and male. Back in March 2019, I had abdomen discomfort that became back pain and lasted 3 hours. I went to walk In clinic and they did blood work and ultrasound. Blood work was normal except amylase was 158 U/L. (High limit is 110). US showed normal pancreas, mild fatty liver, and gallbladder polyp measuring 6 mm. Subsequently my family doctor repeated blood works. In August my Amylase was 170 U/L and in Oct it is 183 U/L. All other blood tests been normal including Lipase levels. I don’t have any symptoms since March episode. Now my doctor is asking for abdominal CT scan to investigate further on amylase. I am concerned on radiation exposure of CT scan and wondering do I need to investigate it further as another doc mentioned that bit elevated amylase alone is not a worry. What should I do, take the CT scan or not ? I can provide copies of blood work and US results if required.
Brief Answer:
Have seen reports Nothing is required. You are fine.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns.
As per my suggestion just mild change in Amylase with normal lipase and no pain etc is not a indication of CT scan.
For me I don't think CT scan is required at this point of time.
Our body has thousands of parameters and we can't keep every number in range.
Unless patient is symptomatic from my side no further intervention is required.
Thank you.
