I Am 73 Years, From XXXXXXX Have Anxiety & Depression

My hobby is walking, but it is totally stopped, since I am locked in my flat, due to COVID19. I was habitual for walking and climbing heights on staircase. Hence I started climbing in my building from ground floor to terrace at 17th floor, I do not get fatigue. After 4th floor my breathing become fast, which I maintain up to 17th floor; and I do fast breathing in & out, like bhastrika pranayama, for 50 counts.
I do not have any disease, I take only 1 tablet Prolomet XL 25 daily morning for BP.
My anxiety & depression are increasing day by day. Please advise.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
First of all I like to inform you that in this era of Covid-19 we are all affected in one or another way. But as we know that there is light at the end of every dark tunnel or sunrise after long nights, holds true for current situation. Feeling anxious or depressed is not something which we need to fear as there is treatment options for each individual.
In view of the provided details I feel anxiety is the most close explanation for most of your symptoms. Fluctuation in temperature is normal for most individuals which becomes more prominent when someone is anxious. Shivering, sweating, palpitations all can be attributed to anxiety due to over active sympathetic system of our body.
As our communication is question and answer format, with its own limitations, I am writing down few of the strategies which might be helpful for you in stress management and ultimately anxiety reduction.
1. Diet: Ensure intake of adequate quantity of fibre. 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits( One preferable citrus fruit). Avoid junk food and fast food especially pizza, burgers and excessive sweets
2. Ensure adequate water intake: Recommended intake of water is 2 to 4 litres a day. Insufficient intake of water could be a contributing factor in causation of symptoms.
3. Early morning Exercise: Brisk walking for 30 minutes if possible. If this is not a option it is advised to do cycling in air while lying on bed
4. Avoid tea/coffee/ nicotine and alcoholic beverages: If at all you want to drink something, drink fresh lime water. It is very much refreshing.
5. Start your day with a glass of Lemon water with 2 spoons of honey added. have a good breakfast.
6. Spend time with your family and friends.
7. While working take frequent regular breaks. I will advice you to take a break of 5-10 minutes after every 50-55 minutes.
Close your eyes and rotate the eye balls for couple of minutes
8. Avoid late night socialisation. I understand that this may not be possible during lockdown but virtual socialisation over late nights can not be ignored.
9. Avoid starring for longer time at the computer screen or TV for longer time
10. Steam inhalation before going to sleep will be very refreshing: will also benefit.
11. Multivitamin and Calcium supplement.
12. Yoga and meditation
Wishing you a very happy and healthy life.
Thanks and regards

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.
Temperature of 97 to 99 degree F is normal for most adults but anything above the normal range can be considered abnormal provided it is recent change.
In case you have the slightly higher temperature normally over the years in compare to other family members and friends than this can be ignored. If you had normal range temperature over the decades and suddenly there is 99 degree armpit temperature this can not be considered normal.
I mean say that if this is latest change it can not be considered normal. We also need to understand that the average body temperature among elderly is slightly low and this normalcy again indicates possibility of abnormality.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
